Mandolin Orchestra
The Mandolin Orchestra was founded in 1976 by a Fremantle guitar teacher. It has gathered members over the years and currently has 32 players.
Mandolins have a unique sound that is reminiscent of traditional folk instruments such as the balalaika and bazouki, guitars tonally complement and add the neccessary depth to the ensemble.
The layout is smilar to the string sections of a symphony orchestra, allowing very successful transcriptions of works by the great composers, such as Vivaldi, Mozart and Beethoven.
The repertoire is chosen from a wealth of music spanning 400 years, from Renaissance to the present day.
