The Courtney Murphy Band

Courtney Murphy appeared on 'Australian Idol' in 2004 and overnight became one of the most recognisable faces and voices in Australia. His huge talent has garnered him praise from the viewing public who have embraced his soulful performances and quick wit. He has rapidly become one of the hardest working and most sought after new artists in the industry, regularly headlining at festivals and corporate events throughout Australia.

In 2005, Courtney joined the stellar cast of Grease: The Arena Spectacular alongside John Farnham, Craig McLachlan, Magda Szubanski and Natalie Bassingthwaighte, "blazing his sweet, deep voice" (The Age) and demonstrating natural acting abilities in the role of T-Bird member Roger to both critical and audience acclaim.  Courtney makes regular appearances and performances for special events, awards nights and telecasts including the ABC's 'Spicks and Specks' and more recently the Miss China Pageant, which was aired throughout Asia

Courtney was excited to catch up with Glenn Shorrock at the Regal Theatre during a two-week season of Cruisin' The Musical in November 2007.  Courtney's featured guest appearances as Rory Storm in the '50's musical were regarded as a highlight of each performance.

Hardly a typical 'Idol', Courtney has been performing and writing songs since he was 12 with his brothers Chris & Kieran in their band, Murphy's Lore.  He is currently recording his all-original debut solo album which is due for release in early 2008.

In addition to his heavy performance schedule with Murphy's Lore, Courtney headlined a sell-out season of his show 'Unplugged and Well-Fed' 'DownStairs at the Maj' at Perth's His Majesty's Theatre in 2006.  He loved it so much he returned In December 2007, with 'No Carols Allowed!'  The Christmas show without carols also received fantastic reviews and further cemented Courtney Murphy as a versatile and talented performer.
